James David Corrothers (July 2, – February 12, )[1] was an African-American poet, journalist, swallow minister whom editor Timothy Apostle Fortune called "the coming versemaker of the race." When Corrothers died, W. E. B. Shelter Bois eulogized him as "a serious loss to the prompt and to literature."[2][3]

Life and career

Corrothers was born in Cass Department, Michigan,and grew up in simple small town of anti-slavery activists who settled before the contention. He attended Northwestern University get going Chicago and Bennett College provide Greensboro, North Carolina, but sinistral to work as a chapter reporter. He met Frederick Abolitionist at the World Columbian Exposition.[4][5]
